Become a Mentor!

Project Friendship has been pairing St. Olaf and Carleton students with little buddies since 1965. We welcome you to join us, to be a mentor for a child who needs a positive experience and to help them be their best self!

Why be a Mentor?

Mentors provide their mentees with a friend who is there to help in any number of situations. Just showing up can make all the difference. Mentors in our program inspire and provide hope, they work on building their friend's confidence and self-esteem.

How to Become a Mentor

Reflect

We ask our mentors to commit to their relationship for their college career. Before applying, ask yourself if you can commit to spending one hour a week with your little buddy.

Apply

Fill out the online application as well as the background check and informed consent forms. You can find all this information on the Mentor Application page.

Interview

Once you submit your application, you will be contacted by a Project Friendship staff member to set up an informal interview on campus.

Match!

After your interview, and contingent on passing your background check, you will be invited to New Mentor Training and matched with your new little buddy!

"People will forget what you said. They will forget what you did. But they will never forget how you made them feel."
